A very nice video showing the distinction between correlation and causation is available on youtube.

Many, many wacky examples of correlations which do not seem consistent with causation are illustrated here. For example, this one, showing the strong relationship between the number of people killed by venomous spiders and the number of letters in the winning word in the National Spelling Bee.
